Homemade Cocktail Sauce

Simply put: the cocktail sauce here is not good. It's pink, for whatever reason, and has no flavor. I only use it once a year, at Christmas Eve, so I usually don't stress over it too much. This year I decided to whip up some on my own. I have to tell you, it's pretty darn good with the shrimp...

*I will mention, however, that my horseradish comes in a cream cheese-like mixture. If you are using bottled, prepared horseradish, go easy on it at first. You can always add more to get that zesty, tangy horseradish flavor we all love about cocktail sauce!

Homemade Cocktail Sauce

About 2/3 cup (160 mL)

  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) ketchup
  • 1/3 cup (80 mL) chili sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) prepared horseradish
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 mL) lemon juice
  • 3/4 Tablespoon (12 mL) worcestershire sauce

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. Cover and chill until ready to use.
